WVA: 97% of respondents prefer flavored electronic cigarette

A survey conducted by the World Vaping Alliance (WVA) among its members found that 97% of respondents preferred e-cigarette flavors or a combination of flavors and tobacco flavors. In addition, higher taxes would push nearly a third of e-cigarette users onto the black market. The WVA urges politicians to listen to consumers and avoid regulations and bans that could create public health disasters.


Michael Randall, director of the World Federation of E-Cigarette Users, said: "Our members' survey confirms what science has proven time and time again: taste is critical for people to quit smoking. Bans and high taxes only fuel the black market and push many vapers into the water. Back to smoking. Now is the time for politicians to start listening to the people most affected by policy - consumers!


The main findings of the survey:

Taste:

A staggering 97% of respondents preferred e-cigarette flavors or a combination of flavors and tobacco flavors. Only 3% said they preferred tobacco.
If flavors are banned: More than half of e-cigarette users will seek to obtain their flavors on the black market or return to smoking. Twenty-one percent said they would only smoke tobacco flavors, and 16 percent thought they would quit.
 
Tax increase:

Tax hikes will split e-cigarette users’ spending behavior:
31% would continue vaping and pay higher prices as they do now;
30% said they would cut back on e-cigarettes to make up for the price increase;
28% would try to sell their product on the black market.
